Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, garlic, lime juice, brown sugar, and black pepper. Pour over flank steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish. Marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat your grill to high heat (around 400°F). Clean and lightly oil grates.
  3. Remove flank steak from marinade (discard marinade) and sear on the grill for 6-8 minutes on one side until grill marks form.
  4. Flip using tongs; cook another 5-7 minutes until medium-rare (internal temp of about 130°F).
  5. Let the steak rest loosely covered with foil for 10 minutes.
  6. Cut against the grain into thin strips and serve with fresh cilantro if desired.
