  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Gather the apples and spices, rinsing the apples thoroughly.
  2. Core and chop the apples into quarters; do not peel.
  3. Combine chopped apples, water, cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, and brown sugar in a large stockpot.
  4. Bring to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 1-2 hours until apples are soft.
  5. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into another pot or pitcher, squeezing to extract all the juice.
  6. Serve warm with optional garnishes like extra cinnamon sticks or orange slices.
