  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup long-grain uncooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 (14.5 oz) cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt, pepper, and paprika to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare cabbage: Boil water in a large pot. Core the cabbage and submerge it for 2-3 minutes until leaves soften.
  2. Make the filling: In a bowl, mix ground beef, ground pork, rice, onion, salt, pepper, and paprika until combined.
  3. Assemble rolls: Lay a cabbage leaf flat, add about 1/4 cup filling near the stem end, roll tightly while tucking in sides.
  4. Prepare sauce: Combine tomato sauce with diced tomatoes and sugar in a bowl.
  5. Layer rolls: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread half of the sauce in a baking dish; place rolls seam-side down and cover with remaining sauce.
  6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden.
