  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups firm apples (chopped, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit until bubbly (5-10 minutes).
  2. Knead the dough: Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture; knead on floured surface until smooth (8-10 minutes).
  3. Let it rise: Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Create the filling: Mix softened butter with cinnamon and sugar; chop apples.
  5. Assemble rolls: Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling, sprinkle apples, and roll tightly into a log.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F. Slice the log into pieces, place in greased dish, and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  7. Frost: Cool slightly and drizzle with cream cheese frosting made by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk.
