  • 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
  • 4 cups Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped (or pistachios)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.
  3. On a clean surface, unroll the phyllo dough. Brush one sheet lightly with melted butter; layer another sheet on top. Repeat until you have about 8 sheets layered.
  4. Spread half of the apple mixture over the phyllo layers. Sprinkle with half of the chopped walnuts.
  5. Layer an additional set of phyllo sheets brushed with butter over the filling.
  6. Add the remaining apple mixture and walnuts on top. Finish with another 4-6 layers of phyllo brushed with butter.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
