Cabbage rolls are a comforting and hearty dish that brings families together around the dinner table.   • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups tomato sauce (no added sugar)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp dried herbs (dill or oregano)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup sour cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare the Cabbage: Boil a large pot of salted water. Remove the core from the cabbage and blanch it in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until the leaves soften.
  2. 2. Make the Filling: In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Season with salt and pepper; mix well.
  3. 3. Assemble Rolls: Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of filling onto one edge of each softened cabbage leaf. Fold in sides tightly and roll from bottom to top.
  4. 4. Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread some tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  5. 5. Arrange Rolls: Place rolls seam-side down in the dish and pour remaining tomato sauce over them.
  6. 6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil during the last 15 minutes for browning.
