Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups tomato sauce (canned or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cabbage Leaves: Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Blanch the whole cabbage for 2-3 minutes until soft. Carefully peel off 10-12 leaves.
  2. Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix ground beef, ground pork, uncooked rice, chopped onion, salt, pepper, dill, parsley, and a splash of tomato sauce until well combined.
  3. Assemble the Rolls: Lay a cabbage leaf flat; place about 2 tablespoons of filling at one end. Fold sides over the filling and roll tightly from bottom to top.
  4. Create the Cooking Base: Pour some tomato sauce into a large baking dish to cover the bottom lightly. Place rolls seam-side down in rows atop the sauce.
  5. Add More Sauce & Bake: Pour remaining tomato sauce over rolls and cover with foil. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour until cooked through.
