  • 9 oven-ready lasagna noodles
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or Italian sausage
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil water in a large pot for the lasagna noodles.
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Brown the ground meat for 5-7 minutes, then drain excess fat and stir in half of the marinara sauce.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, beaten egg, chopped basil, and half of the Parmesan until creamy.
  5. In a baking dish, layer marinara sauce, noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, half of the meat mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil; bake another 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
