Mongolian beef is a delightful dish featuring tender strips of flank steak marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, perfectly balanced with garlic and ginger.   • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain and chop green onions; set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch mix. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated beef in batches until browned (4-5 minutes).
  4. Remove beef; add garlic and ginger to skillet and stir-fry until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  5. Pour in brown sugar, remaining soy sauce, and sesame oil; simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Toss the cooked beef and green onions back into the skillet until evenly coated.
