  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or ghee

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Gradually mix in flour and salt; then add yogurt. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide into 6–8 portions. Roll each piece into an oval shape.
  5. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and puffed up.
  6. Brush with melted butter or ghee while warm.
